Swiss Military Flintlock Pistol (Canton Zurich)
Description: Serial #57, .69 Caliber, 8" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a small amount of dark freckling near the muzzle. This pistol has an overall armory bright finish with a fairly bright gray patina that has spots of dark freckling present throughout. The lockplate is sparsely marked with only a small "K" beneath the pan, but the breech of the barrel has the shield of Zurich on the top flat. Additionally, the frizzen, top jaw, and lock screws are all stamped "52". The brass pan, barrel band/sideplate, tigger guard, and domed butt have an overall dark ochre patina with specks of darker freckling throughout. The walnut stock has been lightly sanded and has a few small handling marks and blemishes scattered about the added military oil finish. Additionally, there is a with-the-grain crack at the front of the lockplate on the right side, and a narrow chip missing at the nosecap on the left. This is a great looking pistol, the precursor for the Model 1842 percussion pistol, and is in very good-near fine condition overall.
