Description: “RZ/M” Marked Pre-WORLD WAR II German WALTHER PPK 7.65 Semi-Auto Pistol C&R Pistol Made Circa 1934-35 in Zella-Mehlis, Germany Here we present a C&R “RZ/M” Marked Walther PPK, made Pre-World War II circa 1934-35, in Zella-Mehlis, Germany. The RZM (Reichs Zeug Meisterei) was the equipment office of the NSDAP, which stands for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, which translates to National Socialist German Workers' Party, more commonly referred to as the “Third Reich”, and was established to contract for equipment. These pistols were commonly thought to be issued to the German political leaders of the time. The PPK (Polizei Pistole Kriminal) was a direct descendant of the slightly larger PP (Polizei Pistole). The PPK was a smaller handgun designed for concealment for detectives, and it featured a capacity of 7 instead of 8 when chambered in 7.65mm (.32 ACP). When WWII began, many different organizations within the Third Reich Party and outside made use of these handy and reliable pistols. The PPK was the small pistol most famously used by the fictional spy, James Bond, but was also the pistol supposedly used in Hitler’s alleged suicide. Fitted with a 90 degree safety, matching internal slide number, brown plastic grips and matching grip extension. “122” has been marked on the front strap in black paint, with a “1137HM” label below. The “Crown/N” is a German proof mark that was used before April 1, 1940. The “N” indicates that the gun has been proofed with “nitro” or smokeless powder. After this date, it would have been proofed “Eagle/N”. The left side of the frame is marked “WAFFENFABRIK WALTHER/ZALLA MEHLIS/WALTHER’S PATENT CAL 7.65mm”. The original grips are brown brindle with the Walther banner. The overall condition is good. Original finish. Excellent action. Bright bore, with strong rifling. Solid grip, very little handling wear. Markings are sharp. Shallow pitting, mostly on the left side of the receiver. Own the original! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
