The VIS Wz.35 stands among the most respected military sidearms of the Second World War and was originally adopted by the Polish military before production continued under German occupation following the 1939 invasion of Poland. German forces quickly recognized the pistol’s quality and retained it for military service, issuing large numbers to Wehrmacht personnel.

Mechanically, the VIS combines elements of John Browning’s proven short-recoil operating system with several uniquely Polish engineering features. Its all-steel construction, ergonomic grip angle, and crisp single-action trigger earned a reputation for excellent handling and battlefield reliability. Soldiers valued the pistol for its durability, natural pointing characteristics, and dependable performance under adverse combat conditions.
The left side of the slide retains the coveted F.B. RADOM VIS Mod.35 factory legend, a hallmark of occupation-era production from the renowned Fabryka Broni arsenal in Radom, Poland. Equally important are the German military acceptance markings present throughout the pistol, including the E/77 inspection marks found on both the slide and frame and the WaA623 acceptance stamp beneath the slide legend. These markings document the pistol's passage through the German military inspection system after the Radom factory was absorbed into the Third Reich's wartime arms program following the occupation of Poland.

The combination of the original Radom rollmark, German acceptance proofs, and desirable two-lever configuration firmly places this pistol among the earlier and more sought-after occupation-production VIS pistols. Rather than a commercial arm or later wartime simplification, this example represents a period when Radom-produced sidearms were being accepted directly into Wehrmacht service and issued alongside P.08 Lugers and P.38 pistols on fronts across Europe. For collectors, these inspection marks are far more than proof stamps—they are tangible evidence of the pistol's wartime journey through one of the most significant military small-arms programs of the Second World War.

Few military pistols combine historical significance, mechanical refinement, and visual elegance as effectively as the VIS Wz.35. Its streamlined profile, deeply rooted wartime history, and association with both Polish and German military service have cemented its position as one of the premier Axis-era collectible sidearms. This example offers the distinctive appearance and historical presence that have made the Radom VIS a centerpiece in advanced World War II handgun collections.
