Synopsis:
Attractive, original, and all-matching Mauser 1939 S/42 Luger pistol, cal. 9mmP, with a matching magazine, a near-mirror bore, a spare magazine, and a matching-dated holster. An iconic German service sidearm used in WWII!
Description:
Standard configuration 1939 dated Mauser S/42 Luger, cal. 9mmP, SN: 5946o, original finish and all matching with matching magazine, a spare magazine, and a matching-dated holster. Chamber dated 1939 with the front toggle link marked "S/42". Full serial number "5946o" marked on forward frame, with the numeration repeated on the left side of the barrel extension and under the barrel, last two digits marked on all of the usual small parts except the Mauser grips that are inspected but not numbered. Primary magazine with the matching number and Eagle/63 acceptance. Spare magazine number "6612v" with Eagle/63 acceptance. Complete with brown/black 1939 dated holster with Eagle/WaA727 acceptance. No takedown tool. The S/42 code was adopted by Germany in the mid-1930s to disguise Mauser’s role in military pistol production during the early rearmament period. Pistols of this type served as the standard German service sidearm during Germany's invasion of Poland and well representative of Mauser's high-quality manufacturing.
Condition:
Approximately 93-95% bright original blue with sharp edge and holster wear in usual locations, especially the left side of the barrel band, tip of rails, hump of sideplate, with slight fading of the barrel extension. Comparable condition oil darkened grips with slight diamond blunting and a few minor losses, particularly on the right panel. VG magazines with plugs showing no suggestion of enhancement or alteration. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Proper manual function with both magazines. G/VG holster with intact stitching, the top of the forward belt loop having separated from the body and subsequently repaired.
