Very Rare Crown D DWM 1902 G.P.K. Trials Danzig Test Dutch 7.63 Luger Pistol
Description: These fascinating guns are discussed in detail on pages 95 through 103 of The Borchardt & Luger Automatic Pistols by Gortz & Sturgess. For many years, these were given the collector designation of "1902 Danzig Test" guns due to the Crown D marking that is found on them. No other marks aside from the serial numbers. Flat bolt. Dished toggles. Referred to in TBLAP book as a 7.65/100mm barrelled Old Model pistol in the 222XX-224XX serial number range with short frames, blank, unmarked toggles and one Crown/D stamp on the left receiver flat (and some, with low serial numbers, an additional stamp on the rear of the frame). It is estimated that these guns were made in either late 1903 or 1904. There is some speculation that these were made or at least used to fill part of an early Dutch contract. Regardless, it is rare gun that holds an important place in the early Luger contracts, military trials, and production. The gun itself retains 90% original blue overall with straw color on the appropriate parts. All markings are clear. All numbers are matching. Fine bore with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function. Grip safety. Properly NOT Geischert marked with a bright area by the safety lever. 4 inch barrel. Checkered wood grips have some handling marks, and there is a chip (but the piece is present) at the top rear of the left grip (see pictures). Has one nickel bodied, wood based magazine. There is a groove in the wood base for some unknown reason. Serial number is 22204 FFL or C&R license required Buyer pays $250 shipping CONUS, including full insurance and tracking.
