"Early Japanese Type 14 Nambu Pistol Chigusa Branch, Nagoya Arsenal 8x22mm Nambu (L2025-10999)
Description: "Serial No. 1594, manufactured December 1927, chambered in 8x22mm Nambu, with a 4.61" round barrel. This rare 1st-year production Type 14 pistol was manufactured at the Chigusa Branch of the Nagoya Arsenal, a short-lived and seldom-seen production facility. It features the early arsenal marking located forward of the date, and uniquely, the year and month on the frame are separated by a comma—a feature exclusive to very early Type 14s. The finish has thinned to a dark grey patina, with light surface oxidation visible, consistent with age and use. Factory blue is still present in protected areas. Serial numbers are matching throughout, except for the magazine which is approximately 50 numbers off. The grips remain in very good condition with light edge wear from handling. This example is one of approximately 1,603 pistols produced at Chigusa in 1927, representing just 0.57% of total Type 14 production. Its historical importance lies in its role in the earliest phase of Type 14 development, prior to full production transfer to larger facilities like Kokubunji and Toriimatsu. The action is smooth and functions correctly. A scarce and historically important addition to any serious Japanese WWII or Nambu pistol collection. Curio/Relic: Yes Price: $3,995.00 Contact Seller |
