France bought many semi-automatic 7.65mm pistols from various Spanish manufacturers during WWI. They were generally similar to the Ruby-style Spanish automatics. This pistol is an excellent example. The left side of the slide is stamped PISTOLET AUTOMATIQUE ""CEBRA"" over BERSEGUI HERMANOS - EIBAR (ESPAGNE) with Bersegui Hermanos being an overstamp of Arizmendi Zulaica y Cia. The right rear of the frame and the magazine base have an oval with AZ inside. This is the French code for the manufacturer. The safety is marked in French. The base of the grip frame has a star on either side of the magazine release. The star is the French military acceptance mark. The right side of the frame is marked SPAIN at mid-grip. The bore and finish of this pistol are superb. The checkered wood grips are excellent. The action functions correctly. This has got to be the best Spanish/French WWI auto pistol in existence!
