1918 LOUIS SCHMEISSSER RHEINMETALL DREYSE VEST POCKET .25 ACP 6.35x16mm C&R Tiny Mouse Gun from the Great War Period
Description: 1918 LOUIS SCHMEISSSER RHEINMETALL DREYSE VEST POCKET .25 ACP 6.35x16mm C&R Tiny Mouse Gun from the Great War Period Here we present a C&R Dreyse Vest Pocket Pistol, made circa 1918 in Sömmerda, Germany. The Dreyse Vest Pocket pistol was patented in Great Britain in 1910 by Louis Schmeisser (1848-1917), who worked as chief designer of Rheinmetall (Rheinische Metallwaaren & Maschinenfabrik or RM&M) which owned the Dreyse company. Louis was father to both Hugo (Bergmann) and Hans Schmeisser (Suhl), who followed in their father’s footsteps and became notable firearms designers in their own right. The British patent states that a German patent had been applied for on September 8, 1909. Production of the Dreyse Vest Pocket may have begun late in 1909, after the German patent was filed. They were made until about the end of the Great War. This was a pistol that would have competed against other mouse guns such as the Colt 1908 Vest Pocket and the Walther Model 8 in the period leading up to the Roaring Twenties! The overall condition is very fine. Original finish. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The grips are solid. This one comes with an additional magazine! This is a very neatly designed little pistol from a fascinating period of history! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 2 inches. Caliber: .25 ACP (6.35x16mm auto) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #230455 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
