Cal 7.65mm (7.65-7.63 x 21 mm). Well documented in Alex Gherovici's book. includes the beautiful 1905 Argentine Steyr pistol, 2 pristine full boxes of ammo, 1 stripper clip and original unissued HOLSTER (With Shoulder strap) and marked with the ARGENTINE CREST and "EAG" (Ejercito Argentino Granadier marking). General Info about the Steyr Mannlicher pistol: The Mannlicher’s M1905 pistol is considered to be his classic handgun design success. The M1900 is a simple design, with a fixed barrel, the recoil spring just below it, and the first “opentop” slide ever made. The lockwork of the Mannlicher is situated outside the frame on the left side, and the mainspring is situated outside the frame on the right side; both are covered by a wraparound cover held in place by a latch in front of the trigger guard. The M1900 utilizes a delayed blowback mechanism. As the slide is blown to the rear by the force of the ignited cartridge, its rearward movement is delayed by a cam on the right side of the gun which fits into a notch on the underside of the slide and is tensioned by the upper arm of the mainspring. As the slide moves to the rear, the hammer is forced back and the mainspring is further compressed, putting additional tension on the cam. When the slide is pulled back to its rearmost position the cam also serves to lock the breech open for cleaning or loading. The pistol functioned quite reliably. The M1900 has a nonremovable 8shot magazine in the grip which is loaded by stripper clip. The lockwork is described by R.K. Wilson as “particularly ingenious.” Wilson says: “The effect of this lock is to give a very sweet and crisp double pull. It is probably the pleasantest trigger mechanism of any selfloading pistol.” The safety is a simple mechanism which blocks the hammer from the firing pin. Wilson says further: “The workmanship and material of this pistol are perfect. Every part shows that precise machining and high finish invariably associated with the products of the Steyr factory. It is an extremely easy pistol to shoot with light, accurate, handy and shapes well to the hand. It is said that the grip is possibly a little too square to the barrel, but I have not found this so.” Geoffrey Boothroyd also says,“...the Model 1900 was graceful and pleasing in shape, and it is a most comfortable pistol to shoot.”Most of the M1905 guns available today are Argentine military surplus and had the Argentine crest ground off the right side plate before they were sold. A few, however, retain the crest and these guns are prized by collectors. Condition: Original Very rare and desirable self loading M1905 Argentine Steyr Mannlicher pistol with INTACT CREST, Crisp markings and ALL medal Matching numbers. NO additional "issue or rack number applied" and NO Import marked! "RA" Republica Argentina marked on top of the beaver tail. Very fine example of what appears to be the "long toe" type Mannlicher pistol appearing to be arsenal or professionally refinished. Medal bluing is rich with imperfections, handling marks-scratches, very very few scattered tiny freckles and tiny spots of discoloration. Little edge wear around muzzle. Grips are walnut, finally vertical grooved with NO cracks, NO repairs, NO chips with occasional small handling marks-scratches. Bore has good rifling, it is dark with pits. The Original holster that appears virtually unused has the "ARGENTINE CREST" and the "EAG" (Ejercito Argentino Granadier) marking. It has a gorgeous redish-brownish color. This is the only Argentine holster I have ever seen with both markings. It is extremely hard to find; it is in excellent shape with Crisp markings, tight stitches, handling marks-scratches and bit of verdigreen around the buckle and the strap hooks in the back. The shoulder strap for the holster is in great shape with a much darker brown color (The only one I found). Original charging clip is good condition with tiny aging spots. The 2 50Rds ammo boxes are in beautiful shape, fragile with little edge wear. Ammo in good condition with toning aging patina. Book picture as reference only.
