Bergmann Bayard 1908 Rare Belgium Model
Description: This is an example of a Bergmann semi-automatic pistol as manufactured in Belgium. This should not be confused with the more common Danish Military Model 1910 Bergman Bayard, the Model 1908 was the immediate predecessor of that famous pistol. The left side of the barrel extension is marked "BREVETE./ S.G.D.G." and "ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS PIEPER/ HERSTAL-LIEGE./ BERGMANN'S PATENT.", with the serial number on the underside of the frame. A series of Belgian proofmarks are visible on the barrel, extension, breechblock and frame. The pistol retains 95% original blue finish showing smooth gray patina on the sides of the barrel near the muzzle, some minor edge wear, and some thinning on the grip straps (heavier on the back strap). Fitted with checkered walnut grips that are excellent with some scattered minor handling marks and a few minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering, they are serial number matching to the gun. For a gun that is well over 100 yrs old this piece is in outstanding condition. Rock Island sold one of these in comparable condition Lot # 359 on December 2nd 2011, for a “price realized” of $4025.00! Obviously a solid investment into a hard asset surely to only increase in value. To complete the transaction, we will need a copy of your FFL or C&R of choice for shipping purposes. For payment we will accept personal checks, money orders, certified checks or cashiers’ checks. All major credit cards are acceptable. Personal checks require 8 business days to clear the bank. All other forms of payment receive same day as received shipping. Full coverage insurance and shipping is $50.00. By the purchase of this item, you release the seller from any liability that may arise due to use or misuse of this firearm.
