FRENCH NAVAL PISTOL by M.R. de CHATELLERAULT
Description:
A French Naval Percussion Pistol which could be combined with G.I. #100636487 to make a pair of these well made military weapons.. The makers name is clearly marked on the lock and the model designation "M 1837" is clearly stamped on the barrel tang. The barrel , captive swivel ramrod, the belthook on the left side, the lock and hammer, and the trigger and support are all in bright steel which is in excellent condition . The barrel band, trigger guard and butt cap ( with its lanyard ring) are all in brass, again all in excellent condition. There is an anchor on the butt cap ( indicating this is a Naval Weapon) and proof marks on the butt cap, trigger guard and surrounds, on the left side of the barrel and on the support for the belt hook. The wood is in good condition. The barrel and nipple are also very clean. The pistol shows little signs of use. It is .60 caliber with a 6 & 1/2" barrel and an overall length of about 12". The action is strong and the hammer holds on full and half cock. This is a really nice representation of this model.
This is an antique so no FFL is required . It can be sent directly to a new proud owner. Guns in this condition have also proven to be good investments, typically increasing nicely in value over time.
