This is a fully original, single-serial-number firearm. It is the Argentine Army version of the 1901 model, purchased in 1905 and representing an improved variant of the earlier design, of which only 10,000 units were produced.
This particular pistol is extremely rare, not only due to its exceptional condition, but especially because it retains the “RA” (República Argentina) crest on the grip. This marking was removed when surplus military stocks were released onto the civilian market in the 1960s.
The 1905 model was considered highly advanced for its time due to its complex manufacturing process. It retains approximately 97% of its original blued finish.
