Description:
Manufactured by J.P. Sauer & Sohn, this compact semi-automatic handgun gained prominence during World War II. Serving as a sidearm for various German military and police units, the Sauer 38H played a role in the arsenal of firearms used by these forces. This late war, rough milled pistol has fixed front sight and drift adjustable rear sight. Usual late abbreviated address on left side of slide, simply referencing the caliber. Military Eagle/37 marking on left upper trigger guard web. Usual Eagle/N proofing on slide and frame. Full serial number on frame, with last 4 digits on matching slide. Original grips, with the left panel molded to have the intertwined SS. Correct magazine with 7 indicator holes and removable floorplate with the SS logo.
Condition:
Crisp 99+% original blue with only the most minimal sharp edge wear at muzzle and back of tang. Even the front and back straps are truly excellent, as are the grips and grip screws. VG+ magazine, with fading as imaged. Mirror bore, perfect manual mechanics. It would be difficult to improve upon this late war German Army issue pistol.
