"General Officer’s Colt 1908 380 Belonged to General Delmar Hall Dunton (L2025-08537)
Description: "Serial number 136767. Made in 1943. 380 caliber with a 4" barrel. This gun is in excellent condition with 97% of the original blue finish. The grips are nice and sharp. The right hand side of this gun has the “U.S. PROPERTY" marking. The left hand side has the ordinance wheel. Accompanying this gun is a reproduction boxes that has two extra, original magazines. Also is the original Colt automatic broadside. Most importantly is the issue papers to Major General Delmar Hall Dunton dated January 10, 1945 and the gun is listed by serial number. General Delmar Dutton had a career that spanned 27 years and included both WWI and WWII in both the air force and army. He was stationed all of the United States and as also in the Philippines, was Chief Maintenance and Repair of the VIII Air Service Command in Britain in 1942. He was also briefly in command of the XII Air Force Service of North Africa in 1943. He left the service as a Major General. He died and is buried in San Antonio Texas. Interestingly, the book, The Colt Pocket Hammerless Automatic Pistols by John Brunner lists General Dutton as receiving a General Officer’s Pistol in 1945, but did not have the serial number in the book. This gun came directly out off the family. Very fine fresh to the market gun! Curio/Relic: Yes Price: $7,950.00 Contact Seller |
