1914 WWI US PROPERTY COLT Government Model 1911 Pistol C&R WW1 Great War 45 WORLD WAR I Model 1911 Government .45 ACP
Description: 1914 WWI US PROPERTY COLT Government Model 1911 Pistol C&R WW1 Great War 45 WORLD WAR I Model 1911 Government .45 ACP Here we present a Colt Model of 1911 U.S. Army Pistol, made in 1914 in Hartford, Connecticut. John Moses Browning’s famous pistol was adopted by the U.S. government in 1911 and attained iconic status throughout both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam and beyond. This one was made at the start of The Great War. John Moses Browning’s famous pistol was adopted by the U.S. government in 1911 and attained iconic status almost immediately. The Colt model M1911 series of pistols is one of the most successful small arms designs of the 20th century, and in all of modern warfare history, for that matter. The handgun has been produced in quantity in the United States, Argentina, and Norway (the latter two under license production as the M1914 and the M1927 respectively) and was fielded in both World Wars and many of the major and minor conflicts of the century, eventually becoming a commercial success for the Colt enterprise. The Colt M1911 continues service in many forms today and is still a favorite among sporting, security, and casual gun lovers all over the world. It is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” on the left side of the frame. The right side of the slide is marked “MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY”. The left side of the slide is marked “PATENTED APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902/DEC.19, 1905. FEB.14, 1911. AUG.19, 1913”, then “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.” The faint remnants of the rampant colt remain at the rear corner of the left side of the slide. The hammer notch is marked “H”. The barrel lug is marked “P” on the left and “HS” on the right. The inside of the frame is marked “H” and “2” with a diamond. The refurbishment that this pistol received lightened the markings and a Parkerized finish was applied. The overall condition is very good. This pistol was refurbished long ago, likely while still in government use, and Parkerized. This pistol may very well have stayed in service all the way through WWII. The action is strong and crisp. The bore is bright and reflective with sharp rifling. Both grips are firm with well-defined checkering and show expected handling wear. This is a wonderful example of Colt’s government model 1911 from the Great War! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 5 inches. Caliber: .45 ACP Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
