AMES 1843 REVENUE MARINE SERVICE BOXLOCK PISTOL
Description: AMES 1843 Revenue Marine Service(forerunner of the Coast Guard) Boxlock Pistol. RAREST of all U.S. Military Single Shot Martial Pistols. One of only 144 made in 1843 for the Revenue Service. Extremely Rare as only maybe 15-18 known. This example is numbered 27 on rear of nipple bolster. Gun was originally brown on the barrel and casecolored lock and hammer. Now an even brownish-gray patina. Brass is an untouched beautiful color. Wood has all original finish with a few dings and mars as would be expected in a service weapon. Has all the sub-inspection B's of JC Bragg (civilian inspector). Has clear verticle cartouches (which were only on Revenue Marine Pistols), of Richard Paine and Lt. Joseph Lanman. All markings clear. Mechanically fine. One of the finer condition guns known. I've owned four in my 50 some years. Please call 973-214-3407 with questions. Thankyou Antique: Yes Price: $6,350.00 Contact Seller |
