This US Military Colt 1911A1, manufactured in 1943 and chambered in .45 ACP, complete with original accessories including a 1942 leather holster and military belt, representing a significant piece of WWII military history in VG+ condition.
Description:
Standard configuration Colt 1911A1 Pistol, made in 1943, cal: .45 ACP, with 5" barrel, fixed front sight, and drift adjustable "U" notch rear sight. Left side of slide with usual two line address including the rampant Colt. Left frame with inspector marking by GDH and P that is repeated on the top of the slide and barrel lug barely breaking through the parkerized finish. Barrel additionally marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on left side above lug. Right side of frame with the ordnance wheel, “UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911A1 U.S. ARMY” over the full serial number. Fitted with coarsely checkered Keyes grips with screw reinforcements. Blued magazine with "S" on inner toe. Complete with black leather holster dated 1942, military belt, canteen, and ammo pouch dated 1944.
Condition:
VG+ original parkerizing with the usual sharp edge wear and minor toning as one might expect from a service pistol that was carried and used for at least two years during WWII. Comparable condition wear on the blued barrel, grips, and magazine. Slightly dull bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. VG-EXC holster,belt, ammo pouch, and canteen/khaki retainer. A wonderful no-excuse rig for the collector/historian!
