Colt Commercial/Military 1911a1
Description:
1942 Colt Commercial/Military Re-Numbered M1911A1 s/n 865158. Original and unaltered. One of only 6575 Government Model pistols transferred in 1942 to satisfy Military requirements.These Pistols had their Commercial serial numbers peened and removed . The GOVERNMENT MODEL marking was also removed . Military serial numbers were then applied,as was the UNITED STATES PROPERTY marking.Finally the pistols were refinished with a military Parkerized finish. The slide is properly numbered to match the frame.It has the Original Colt S marked barrel.A hard to come by pistol that's a hole in many collections.
