COLT US made, ARGENTINE ARMY EJERCITO 1927 ALL MATCHING including MAG RAMPANT COLT
Description: SOLD....THIS IS a COLT Hartford CT, US MADE ARGENTINE ARMY CONTRACT MOD 1927 WITH ALL MATCHING NUMBERS INCLUDING MAGAZINE, IN ORIGINAL CORRECT MILITARY CONFIGURATION with all proper and correct markings with NO EXTERNAL Additional SN Added. NO IMPORT MARKED. This pistol is a REAL Colt 1911A1 Government Commercial Model 1927; an improvement of the early 1911 Model (NOT a Sistema COLT) in .45ACP; manufactured for the Argentine Army in the late 1920's. This pistol was manufactured by COLT in Hartford, Connecticut USA; it is 1 of the 10,000 pistols Model 1927 made. These pistols were serial numbered in their own range, 1 to 10,000. Standard Colt commercial Patent markings on the left side of the slide with the RAMPANT COLT before the serrations. The right side of the slide was marked with the Argentine crest followed by "EJERCITO ARGENTINO, second line: COLT CAL. 45 MOD. 1927" in Block letters. When originally shipped, the serial number was stamped by COLT on top the slide (with ? prefix), inside the frame, under the mainspring housing and on top of the barrel showing at the ejection port in a perpendicular direction. Pistols were supplied by COLT with 3 serialized magazines. Special note on the additional SN applied on the exterior of SOME pistols: Serial numbers were often added by Argentine arsenals to the side of the frame and slide at a later time (late 1940s or early 50s). This particular Colt example, has NO Additional EXTERNAL SN ADDED By Argentina at the later time. In 1960s, the Modelo 1927 were declared surplus by the Argentine Army and some were sold to European gun traders were they became deactivated to comply with their laws, also the Argentine officers were permitted to keep the firearm for themselves after active duty; making these pistols scarce in the USA. According to Clawson, various but not all small parts are marked with the "RA" or "R" inside an oval, indicating Argentine inspection at the Colt factory. According to Gherovici, the design of the "RA" stamp is similar to those use to mark the Mannlicher Mod 1905 pistols, Bayonets and pistol holsters. Condition: From my personal collection, Colt 1911A1 is in very nice condition; it appears to have the Original finish showing imperfections, fading, thinning, discoloration, edge wear mixed with even gray-plumb pleasant patina, freckles, bruises, handling marks, scratches, tiny nicks. NO pitting, NO active oxidation noted. There is a color difference at the muzzle end of the slide where Colt hardened that area of the slide. Nice clear crisp markings including the beautiful detailed ARGENTINE CREST AND the RAMPANT COLT. ALL MATCHING SN NUMBERS on the FRAME (under the mainspring housing), top of the SLIDE, BARREL (at chamber through the ejection port) and MAGAZINE. Colt's assembler's marks: "G" on receiver and slide for "John McIntyre; "VP" verified proof on frame under the left stock; "RA" and "R" Argentine inspection marks. Original sights in place. Action seems mechanically tight in good working order. To the naked eye, the bore has some shine with good rifling with some frosting and little erosion between the lands and groves. Grips appear to be Original double diamond checkered (they might be younger than the pistol?). Beautiful wood grain scales with NO Cracks, NO Chips seen, some wear, some flattening of some checkered points, handling marks and scratches. The 7 Rd ORIGINAL magazine is has the SAME SN on the bottom; it fits well, drops free and appears to be in good working condition; with some finish fading, loss, edge wear, discoloration, handling marks and scratches. Pistol has NO IMPORT MARKS. Books pictures for reference only.
