Outstanding Colt Model 1911 Military .45 ACP US Property 1913 w/ Factory & Gahimer Letters
Description: This gun is 100% correct and original throughout! All parts are proper and original to the gun. This is clearly reflected in the included Inspection Report by renowned 1911 expert Scott Gahimer. In his inspection report, he rates the finish at 93% although in this instance, we would tend to argue that the finish is closer to 97% with some very minor handling marks and some honest holster wear on the mainspring housing. The bore rates at excellent. The original checkered wood grips are excellent as well, although neatly and period carved into the bottom of the left grip is HSM and the bottom of the right grip has CAC. Several months prior, the holster for this pistol was sold that had H.S. MONELL, Colonel, CAC written inside. At the time, we were unaware that the pistol existed and were unable to get the holster back. From what we could gather, CAC stands for Coastal Artillery Corps. While there is no way for us to definitely say they were together, the initials and overall condiiton of the gun, reflecting the slight holster wear on the mainspring housing, would lead us to believe that this gun belonged to Col. Monell. Regardless, the condition certainly speaks for itself! Please see the pictures for the full report on this gun as well as the factory letter which states that it was shipped on December 3, 1913 in a group of 500 guns to the Commanding Officer at Springfield Armory. Also included is the still sealed DVD that was included as part of the Inspection Report. This gun did not have a magazine with it when we got it. You can rest assured that this gun has been completely vetted by one of the leading experts in the country, possibly the world, and would be a safe investment for years to come.
