Kentucky Flintlock Pistol, .50 Caliber, Custom Built by Contemporary Artisan R. Hetrick
Description:
This 18th century style Kentucky flintlock pistol was hand assembled by contemporary artisan R. Hetrick using a curly maple stock stained brown with golden undertones and brass furniture with a hand burnished appearance to compliment the tone of the stock. The 10" swamped octagon W.E. Rayl rifled barrel (8 groove rifling) has been draw filed smooth and finished with a heat blue. The heat blue finish varies from dark blue to purple over the length of the barrel. The barrel is fitted with a front sight only, no rear sight is installed. The builder signed his name, R. Hetrick, along the top of the barrel near the breech. Finished bright to contrast with the barrel, the small Siler flintlock has a crisp action and a well hardened frizzen. The burnished side plate is shaped with a step at the pointed tail. All of the brass furniture has aged to a mellow patina. The pistol is 15-1/2” inches in overall length. Originally purchased from Track of the Wolf, Inc. for $1,399.00! No FFL required.
