Description:
Walther P38, made in 1940, all matching to include factory matching magazine. Complete with a 41 dated hard shell holster and a later Mauser accepted magazine. SN: 7968b. Cal: 9mmP. Standard configuration P38 with 5” barrel, drift adjustable front sight and fixed rear sight. Stacked address on the left side of slide that includes “ac” manufacturers code, the date “40” and the serial number. Safety positions marked with a white highlighted “S” and a red highlighted “F”. The right side of slide with the usual three acceptances, two of which were applied after bluing. The full serial number is repeated on the left side of the frame, left side of the slide, under the barrel that is also marked “ac” on lug, and on the locking block. All small parts with usual Eagle/359 acceptances. Fitted with correct dark brown grips and factory matching magazine having double Eagle/359 proofs on spine, the number on the toe of the floorplate. Spare Mauser magazine with P.38 on left magazine wall, Eagle/135 acceptance on spine, and unmarked floorplate. Hardshell holster marked P38 with dla code, dated 41.
Condition:
Approximately 95% bright original salt blue finish with sharp edge/holster wear in the usual areas. Fine speckling on front of trigger guard and front strap. Comparable condition grips, the left panel having an area of loss over the rear crest as photographed. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. EXC spare magazine. VG+ holster, with intact stitching. One of the more difficult Military P38s to encounter particularly with a matching magazine and especially with a near-dated hardshell holster/spare magazine.
