WWII German Walther P.38 AC43 Rare Third Variation 9mm 5” All Matching C&R

Description:
For your consideration is a Walther P.38 AC43 pistol, manufactured around November 1943. Serial number is 4931m.

Warren H. Buxton (The P.38 Pistol, Volume 1, p184) refers to AC43 pistols in the M and N block as “Third Variation”. This variation introduced the single line date code moved to the rear of the slide. Previous variations had a “stacked” date code near the front. Buxton also notes on p250 that this is “a very rare and difficult to find variation in any condition”.

This pistol features:

• Matching barrel, frame, slide and locking block
• Out-of-order waffenamt stamps on slide. Eagle over Swastika stamp is to the left of both E/359 stamps instead of between. Buxton, on p184, attributes this error to a single inspector.
• Correctly marked magazine stamped P.38v with E/359 waffenamt on the spine. Walther stopped serializing magazines in late 1942.
• Pronounced machining marks, especially on slide. This was indicative of the push to take shortcuts to increase production as the tide of the war was beginning to turn.

This example is in overall fine condition. There is minor wear consistent with age and use.

Bore is excellent, bright with sharp rifling.

The reddish-brown Bakelite grips are in fine condition with no cracks or chips.

Mechanics are excellent - I did not test fire it but flawlessly cycled a full magazine to test chambering/extraction.

Overall, a great example of a Walther P.38 AC43 Third Variation for your collection.

Returns are only accepted for items that arrive at the transfer agent in a condition other than advertised in the listing. Returns must be left with the transfer agent.
Firearms returned for other than damage or misrepresentation will have all shipping/ fees and a restocking fee of 15% subtracted from the refund. Any damage incurred in transit is the responsibility of the shipping agent (USPS, UPS, etc.). I will assist with any claim, but any damages will be paid by the shipping agent.
