Beautiful Pair of All-Metal 18th Century Flintlock Pistols by G. Devillers of Liege
Description: NSN, .38 Caliber, 1 5/16" barrels with good, lightly pitted bores. This is a handsome pair of all-metal muff pistols that feature number-matched turn-off barrels, and sliding trigger guard safeties. The metal has an overall bright, in-the-white finish, and has geometric and floral scrollwork engraving throughout. The maker’s name is engraved onto the right side of the button both pistols: "G. DEVILLERS" with "LIEGE" opposite. Both pistols are fully functional, although the frizzen lock pins of both safeties have either broken off or been removed. Guillaume Devillers was a member of a gunmaking family in Liege and operated ca, 1750 & 1783. These pistols are very nice examples of his work and are in fine condition overall. They would make a splendid addition to any collection. Antique; SOLD |
