Antique Pair of London Brass Frame Flintlock Turn-Off Pistols
Description: NSN, .50 Caliber, 1 1/2" barrels with very good bores. These are well-made guns, dating from ca. 1790 & 1810, that have a mottled gray patina on the barrels, and a bright yellow patina on the brass frames. The frames retain the remnants of martial panoply engraving on both sides, with faint, partially legible "LONDON" markings on the right, and illegible maker or retailer markings on the left (possibly "BALK" but no London maker with that name is listed). The central cocks have traces of original blue still visible along the sides of the necks, and a dark gray-brown patina on the balance. The flared butt walnut grips have engraved caps and fine checkering with some flattened areas scattered about. The octagonal escutcheons are engraved with owner’s initials: "TM." The locks are fully functional, as are the sliding safeties. This is a very nice pair of London pocket pistols, and are in very good-near fine condition overall. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes |
