Radom VIS P.35(p.) Type 1 Pistol With Slot in Back Strap for Stock Mfg. in Poland by Germany in WWII
Description: As the title suggests, this pistol was manufactured in the Fabryka Broni (Weapons Factory) near Radom, Poland by Polish workers that were under strict supervision by the occupying German Army, beginning in mid-World War Two. Poland had been manufacturing the Radom pistol for its army since 1936, but when Poland surrendered to German forces on September 27, 1939, production ceased at the plant. The total number of Radom pistols made by the Germans amounted to about 300,000 pistols, marked with their own proof markings, and issued them to military officers and civilian officials of the Reich. The first of the German made guns, better known as the Type 1, had a slot cut into the backstrap to mount a shoulder stock on; three levers on theleft side; and were marked with serial numbers that had no letter prefixes. About 30,000 guns later, the Type1 (so designated by collectors of this pistol) still had the slot and the three levers, but the serial numbers were marked A through Z, with a few letters left out. A few prefixes into production, the slot disappeared. The first C prefix block is the last to be manufactured with the slot in the backstrap. The pistol offered here is one of those that can be designated as a true Type 1 Radom. At the end of the Z prefix guns, the 3rd lever was discontinued. which marked the beginning of the Type 2 Radoms. This pistol is in at least very good condition with all of the proof markings on the left side, namely: WaA77 on the frame and slide; eagle over 623 on the slide; eagle clutching a round object marked with a swastika in its claws; and marked with the model numbers P35(p) below the RADOM address. The only German marking on the right side is supposed to be a WaA77, but not much of it is visible, probably due to holster wear. The serial numbers appear clearly on the left side of the slide, as well as on the barrel lug and the inside of the slide. The wear appears on the right side and is mostly attributable to carry in a holster. The bluing appears to have at least 85% remaining. Please view the photos, as they are an integral part of the description. Buyer to pay actual cost of shipping and insurance. Please feel free to ask questions. Thanks for looking.
