Standard configuration Remington Rand M1911A1 with ramp front sight and drift adjustable rear sight having square notch. Left side of frame with usual two line Remington Rand address. “P” in front of rear sight. “FJA” Frank J Atwood inspector initials on left side & crossed cannons proofs on right side that do not break the parkerized finish. Right side of frame marked with SN, “UNITED STATES PROPERTY”, “M1911A1 U.S.ARMY”. All components parkerized except for salt blue trigger, slide release, thumb safety, hammer, and a few pins. Barrel lug marked “HS” on right side by High Standard, ‘P’ on opposing side. Keyes Fibre grips with escutcheon rings around screws. Late seven round magazine with “S” on inner toe.
Condition:
EXC condition, a questionable rework, as none of the inspector markings have broken the finish. Usual thinning over barrel hood from cycling. Comparable condition grips and magazine. Bright bore with minor etching. Perfect manual mechanics. An extremely attractive Remington Rand 1911A1, made 1943, with just enough wear to make the occasional appearance at the range!
