"Early Remington No. 1 .22 Caliber Vest Pocket Pistol (AH5950)

The No. 1 Remington single shot vest pocket pistol was made from circa 1865 to 1888. Note that the hammer also functions as the breechblock. The 3.25"" round 22 Short barrel with octagon breech is integral to the frame. The bore is very good with some erosion of the rifling. Most of the original nickel remains. The top of the frame has a small notch for a sight. This early gun is completely unmarked. The walnut grips are fine with very little wear. The action functions correctly. These interesting saw handle vest pocket deringers should be in any Remington or deringer collection, especially an early one like this.
