1861 Remington-Elliot Pepperbox, .32 RF
1861 Remington Elliot Pepperbox chambered in .32 rimfire caliber.
Manufactured from 1863 to 1888, this is a four shot, .32 caliber pistol using a cluster of stationary barrels and a revolving firing pin. The barrels are arranged in a square pattern, with "MANUFACTURED BY E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y." on the left, "ELLIOTS PATENTS MAY 29, 1860-OCT. 1, 1861" on the right. German silver blade front and frame notched rear sights. The derringer is functionally double action only, with the concealed hammer operated entirely by the rear motion of the ring trigger. The grip section is contoured so the butt rests on the ring finger. Matching serial number on barrel and frame. Original finish turned to Pewter and Brown patina. Mechanics functions as it should and will fire. Barrels show decent rifling, barrel release works well.
An interesting antique pocket pistol in working functional condition. A piece of American West era history.
