Scarce FACTORY ENGRAVED Antique REMINGTON-RIDER .32 XSRF MAGAZINE Pistol
E. REMINGTON & SONS Rimfire Pocket Pistol
Description: Scarce FACTORY ENGRAVED Antique REMINGTON-RIDER .32 XSRF MAGAZINE Pistol E. REMINGTON & SONS Rimfire Pocket Pistol Here we present a scarce antique Factory Engraved Remington-Rider Magazine Pistol. This pistol was manufactured circa 1878 based on designs by Joseph Rider. This pistol is a 5-shot repeater chambered for the .32 extra-short rimfire cartridge. It uses a tube magazine under the barrel and a simple but clever vertically shifting breechblock to give an impressive amount of firepower in a small package. The Magazine Pistol was a really unique design that somewhat resembled the Remington Model 95 “Over & Under” Deringer, but had an under barrel, tubular magazine similar to early Smith & Wesson and Volcanic pistols, and a receiver interior that was mechanically similar to the Spencer carbine and rifle mechanism. As mentioned, the pistol has a round tubular magazine under the barrel and featured a single action mechanism. The pistol was chambered for the specially designed Remington .32 Rimfire Extra Short cartridge, and five of these cartridges could be loaded into the magazine. This is the same cartridge that would be used later in “The Protector” squeeze action palm pistols, like those produced by Chicago Firearms during the 1890s. Fewer than 15,000 of these were made between the production run of 1871 and 1888 and they represent one of the few American users of a tube magazine in a handgun. The design was clearly influenced by the popular Winchester rifles of the period and their predecessors. The Riders are among the earliest magazine fed pistols. The pistol takes up basically the same amount of pocket space as Remington's famous double derringer but allowed for five shots instead of two. The action is unique. The large spur brings another cartridge from the magazine while simultaneously cocking the single action hammer. The large spur travels forward again to close the breech and has an aperture that acts as the rear sight. Very neat! The overall condition is good. The action is strong. Good bore for its age. Solid, firm grips. Nicely engraved frame. This example has been refinished. Here is a great example of a scarce Remington! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3 inches. Caliber: .32 Extra Short Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #244018 SOLD Antique: Yes |
