Description: US NAVY Antique REMINGTON Model 1867 ROLLING BLOCK Action 50 Caliber Pistol Scarce US Navy Rolling Block Pistol! Here we present an antique Remington Rolling Block Model 1867 Pistol made in Ilion, New York. The Model 1867 pistol uses a .50 caliber Remington Pistol Center Fire cartridge and a thumb latch activated Rolling Block. These were an update to the previous Model 1865, which was made for rimfire cartridges. The action was quite robust and could easily withstand the increased pressure of the new smokeless powders coming into use by the late 1880s. These had a sturdy, simple action that was relatively inexpensive and was just the ticket for shipboard weapons for the US Navy: firearms that would not see a whole lot of use the vast majority of the time. An anchor and other inspection markings are located on the top of the barrel. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is smooth-bored and semi-bright throughout.
