REMINGTON RAND 1911A1 WW2 1944 100% BELIEVED UNFIRED
Description: I purchased this pistol in 2000 from S.O.G represented as an unfired pistol from their “collector” section. I was aware of unfired surplus RR pistols but could not find one. Upon receipt, my quick exam was of the mag, a proper Scoville, with no marks on the follower or scrapes on sides; the firing pin- no contact mark shown. (See, photos) I also noted that the box contained the original serial number and code numbers on my purchase receipt from SOG and that the oil paper had been crumpled indicating a lot of looks and possible “racking” of the pistol. The provenance that came with the pistol included a 1957 invoice from Golden State Arms of Pasadena, CA and shipping receipt for the pistol going to Tiffin, OH. SOG International is located in Lebanon, OH. I also researched Golden State Arms to find it was in business from about 1957 to 1966 claiming to be the world’s largest importers of surplus small arms and the purchaser of U.S. military pistol unissued inventory. The DCM also issued a few unfired RR 1911A1 pistols. When I decided to sell the pistol I disassembled it to examine the individual parts. My first observation was that everything fit very tight. All of the small parts were properly in a brushed blue finish- darker than finish of pistol. There was no rust and only minor grease under the stocks. I also noticed no powder residue in the barrel and no external marks- looked new. The firing pin at the slide showed minor grease and no powder residue. I also found that all of the stamping that RR does after finish was as original- showed signs of bright metal or burnish as they should; top of slide “P” was burnish; cross cannons show bright metal; serial numbers are slight metal and burnish. The finish is definitely original and 100%. To verify the unfired condition of the pistol, I submitted the pistol to Gale Morgan, a museum quality restoration expert I trust. In his opinion the internal wear marks (see photos) are an indication of the pistol having been fired. (see Morgan letter). For transparency, I include his opinion of NRA Excellent condition. Even so, I continue to opine that if I were to fire the pistol I would have loaded ammo in the mag so the mag follower and body would show scrapes consistent with the internal marks. Bottom Line: this is the finest U.S. WW 2 1911A1 on the market today and the most perfect example of the pistol I have ever seen. It comes with the original RR box and two never used magazines (one still in wrap). If interested, I have more photos. PAYMENT OPTIONS: I accept USPS Money Orders and personal/business checks. Items paid with US Postal Money Orders will ship forthwith. Items paid with checks will ship when check clears. Usually within 10 days. Payment must be received within 10 days of purchase.
