Inv. 5611 Union Switch & Signal, Model 1911-A1, Caliber .45 ACP, Serial Number 10599XX. Not minty, but a great opportunity to acquire the second rarest of all the WW II 19111-A1s. With only 55,000 ever and produced that would be scarce enough, however thousands of the early production had fault slides that cracked in the field. The frames were mismatched when fitted with Colt, Rem-Rand or Ithaca slides. This particular gun is correct in every way. The Ducolite finish is about 94-95%. There is no rust or pitting anywhere. The loss, is the typical muzzle and sharp edge silvering, which is quite slight. The gun does show scattered surface thinning and some scattered rub marks from the holster. The grip straps have not grayed however showing that the gun has seen little use. All parts match and are correct for a U.S.& S. The left side of the frame is inspector stamped "RCD" in a circle and a "P" just above the magazine release. The top of the slide near the rear sight is stamped "P".
