1 of 735 Remington 1901 with Rare 1891 Markings, Checkered Stock and Trigger
Description: SOLD Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are over the top proud to offer this fine example of Remington's last version of the rolling block single shot, the 1901. Made until 1909, this was the most practical of the 1871 based pistols. The 10 inch part octagonal, part round barrel was fitted with fine sights, and had a longer sight radius than the 1891. The front sight has a fine bead, which appears to be German silver. Another advantage is that the "ear" that is used to open the action was made to be more horizontal, staying out of the shooter's view of the target. Flayderman states that the 1901 was profusely checkered, and that is true. The walnut on this gun is in very good condition. The steel is likely reblued, with some pitting visible under the finish. The bore is quite good, with plenty of shine and strong rifling. Chambered in .22 Long Rifle, she is definitely a practical shooter. The trigger is very light to fire, once the hammer is cocked. Now, the icing on the cake is that this 1901 still has the "P and S" markings on the receiver. Flayderman specifically states that this model does not have the inspector marks of the earlier 1891. Furthermore, she sports a factory checkered trigger. This is one special Remington. If you have been looking for the right Remington single shot pistol to collect or for investment, but want the added clout of an anomaly gun, then look no further.
