Near EXC Remington Rand 1911 A1 .45 caliber pistol with original finish, made 1943, with later magazine and holster marked "BOYT 45", complete with World War IIbelt and World War I double magazine pouch.
Description:
U.S. Model 1911A1 semi-automatic pistol manufactured by Remington Rand Inc. in 1943, SN: 976203, accompanied by US militarygear and leather holster dated 45. Standard configuration pistol with a serrated ramp front sight and a notched, drift adjustable rear sight. The left side of the slide is marked “REMINGTON RAND INC. / SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A.,” with the right side of the frame marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY / NO. 976203” and “M1911 A1 U.S. ARMY.” Checkered mainspring housing. Parkerized finish with blued small parts to include the hammer, thumb safety, slide release, trigger, magazine button retainer, screws and assorted pins. "P" proof on top of slide and left side of frame near the magazine release button, the left side of the frame marked "FJA", the ordnance wheel on the right tang area-all the proofs and inspection markings having cut through the parkerized finish. Checkered brown plastic grips without screw head reinforcing rings. Unmarked spot welded blued magazine with five indicator holes, vertical seam in spine, and spot welded floorplate. Disassembly shows the left side of the chamber hood marked with the heat treat lot number, the lug area marked with an S and P. Included with the pistol is a U.S. WWII leather flap holster marked “BOYT / 45,” a green U.S. khakipistol belt, and a tan WWI khaki canvas magazine pouch marked “OCT. 1918 / MILLS / PAT. JULY 16-07”.
Condition:
Near EXC original finish, escutcheon holes in-the-white, with sharp edge wear and handling as one might expect from a service pistol made and issued in the middle of World War II. Comparable condition wear on the exposed barrel hood, grip straps, and grips. EXC, later issue magazine. Near mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. G-VG holster with oil staining and darkening, especially around the belt loops, intact stitching and rivets. EXC belt and magazine pouch.
