Based on the standard-issue .45 caliber M1911 sidearm used by the United States Armed Forces from 1911 to 1985, the Ruger SR1911 Commander-Style Semi-Auto Pistol boasts rugged engineering with modern features you would only expect on a custom gun. A slightly shorter barrel enhances ease of carry and speed of deployment. High-quality stainless steel, manufactured with an ultra-modern precision CNC-controlled machining process, results in a superior slide-to-frame fit and smooth cycling of the action. The barrel and bushing are also machined from stainless steel to provide excellent accuracy. Positive barrel lock-up allows ensures superior accuracy out of the box. The frame and slide have a low-glare bead-blasted finish, and serrations on the slide ensure positive grip while cycling the action by hand. Lightweight, aluminum skeletonized trigger with an adjustable over-travel stop enhances accuracy. The light, crisp trigger pull has no creep, with a quick, positive reset. A lightweight skeletonized hammer provides instant lock time, and ample serrated surface for positive thumb engagement. Other performance-enhancing details include oversized beavertail grip safety, extended thumb safety and slide stop lever, polished titanium feed ramp, oversized ejection port, extended magazine release, replaceable grip panels, and checkered backstrap. A visual inspection port allows for quick visual confirmation of a loaded chamber. This model accepts most standard, aftermarket 1911 parts and accessories. The Ruger SR1911 Commander-Style semi-auto pistol comes with drift-adjustable, Novak 3-dot sights dovetailed to the slide.
