This is a Ruger MK II which we have just acquired just steps away from the original Ruger plant here in Southport, CT. This is a Ruger Mark II Government Target Model .22 LR with serial number 216?28227. Based on Ruger's official serial number production data this appears vto be manufactured circa late 1990 production run..
The Government Target Model (‘G’ variant) was originally developed under a U.S. military contract. These pistols featured match-grade bull barrels, target sights, and rigorous testing to meet stringent accuracy standards .Civilian versions identical to the military contract guns began shipping in January 1987, removing only the “U.S.” stamp and adding “GOVERNMENT TARGET MODEL” .
These guns were offered in blued steel and, later on, in stainless models, maintaining the same MK678G designation . The Government Target Model came with a 6.875?" bull barrel, adjustable target sights—and some versions were slab?sided to reduce weight (commonly referred to as a Competition Target Model with “flats” on the barrel) as is this one.

The pistol comes with a small illuminated scope on Weaver mounts. It has been fitted with after market target grips and although seeing use with fading wear to barrel it is in solid condition. Offered here for sale is a classic from the home of the Ruger Collectors Association right here in Southport, CT. This is a Ruger MK II which we have just acquired just steps away from the original Ruger plant here in Southport, CT. This is a Ruger Mark II Government Target Model .22 LR with serial number 216?28227. Based on Ruger's official serial number production data this appears vto be manufactured circa late 1990 production run..
The Government Target Model (‘G’ variant) was originally developed under a U.S. military contract. These pistols featured match-grade bull barrels, target sights, and rigorous testing to meet stringent accuracy standards .Civilian versions identical to the military contract guns began shipping in January 1987, removing only the “U.S.” stamp and adding “GOVERNMENT TARGET MODEL” .
These guns were offered in blued steel and, later on, in stainless models, maintaining the same MK678G designation .
