Wonderful, Early Sauer 38H, Double Eagle, German WWII Military, Rig, one of the most desirable 38H pistols, a holy grail for any serious Sauer or WWII military collector.
Description:
Very early production, high-polish Sauer & Sohn 38H pistol used by the Na*i army, as reflected by the double Eagle/37 marked on the left trigger guard web. Disassembly shows an all-matching pistol and two original magazines with matching floorplates, each marked with the caliber and intertwined “S/S/U,” along with a Sauer-marked military holster whose tab has been struck with an Eagle/WaA286. Pistol is an otherwise early high-polish gun with the usual two-line slide address on the left side along with red-dotted safety. The right side of the slide is marked “Patent.” Full serial number on the right tang with last three digits repeated under slide. Usual checkered grips with the right panel having an added Eagle/Swastika bordered medallion. Magazines with seven indicator holes on the left side with detachable floorplates. Leather holster inked for Sauer pistol, manufacturer-marked, dated “1940” and struck with Waffenamt/WaA286 on the tab.
Condition:
Near excellent bright original finish with sharp edge wear and a few areas of thinning as one would expect from a carried pistol. Comparable condition grips with the right panel having an added medallion as previously mentioned. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. VG+ holster with very minor stitching separation on left side of tab. An extremely early, holy grail Sauer 38H pistol Na*i rig, well suited for the most advanced WWII military or Sauer collector.
