***SOLD***1920 Vintage Savage Model 1907 .380 ACP Pistol
** Scarce Variation 1 of 800 Made **
Description: ****SOLD**** This is a very cool vintage Savage Model 1907 .380 ACP pistol made in 1920. This particular Model 1907 variation is the catalogue "Model 07 19 0" manufactured for only 2 years between 1919 and 1920 with only about 800 total made. While the sales motto for this pistol was "10 Shots FAST!", the .380 ACP models like this one actually held 9 rounds in the magazine instead of 10 rounds like the .32 ACP guns. This example was made in early 1920 and is 100% original. As you can see from the pictures, most of the factory gloss blue finish is intact on this pistol with the vast majority of the visible finish wear on the barrel shroud of the slide. The factory case colors are still visible on the trigger but are worn away on the magazine release. All of the factory markings on this gun are located on the top of the slide and in the safety area and they are all fully visible and sharp. The original grips on this pistol are very handsome with a smooth border around the checkered area and a large Savage Indian Head logo on both sides. Both of the grips are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs. The checkering shows a few minor handling marks but otherwise looks great on both sides. Both grip panels fit the gun perfectly and are tight to the gun with no wiggle. The bore in this Savage is almost excellent, however there is a VERY light ring in the barrel about 1" inch ahead of the chamber. We took the gun apart and cannot see or feel any bulge but there is definitely a very light ring in the bore. The rest of the bore looks perfect with shiny lands and grooves ahead and behind the ring and no pitting. The lone imperfection in the bore should have no effect on the function or accuracy due to it's location. The action on this Savage is smooth, slick, and precise. The inside-the-rails slide to frame fitment is superb. All of the controls are in perfect working order including the safety which also doubles as a hold-open and the magazine release on the toe of the front grip strap. The original factory 9-round magazine is in excellent condition with perfect feed lips and a stout follower spring. This Savage should be an excellent shooter and would be priced significantly higher due to it's scarcity if not for that minor defect in the bore. If you have been looking for a cool vintage shooter or classy and unique carry gun this Savage Model 1907 in .380 ACP would be a great choice. These are few and far between in any condition!
