.45 ACP Serial # 166 Savage Model 1907 Trials
pistol serial number 166 of the original 288
produced. The 1907 trials were insigated by the
request of Bridadier General Crozier as the
shortcomings of the 1894 Colt .38 revolvers werediscovered during the Philippine insurrection.
The
pistols were issued issued to the 3rd , 6th
and
11th Cavalry for test and evaluation. Post
testing
the pistols were returned to Savage,
refinished
and sold commercially to Tryon in Philadelphia.Slide retains the full 2 line Savage
markings, 1st
pattern frame without the safe &
fire markings.
Case colored trigger. Original
magazine without
serial number. Mixed numbers
