C. Sharps & Co. Four Barrel Pepperbox 22 RF Philadelphia
Description: Serial #42804, .22 Rim Fire, 2.5 inch barrel with fine dark bores with strong rifling and some scattered roughness. This is the Model 1A straight standing breech 4 shot, Pepperbox breech-loading pistol manufactured by C. Sharps & Co. in Philadelphia, PA and marked on the left "C. SHARPS PATENT 1859" and "C. SHARPS & CO. PHILADA, PA" on the right manufactured from 1859-1874. The classic antique derringer remains in fine condition with the barrels having a nice plum-brown patina with traces of the original bright finish visible in the grooves between them. The brass frame shows a very nice, mellow aged patina with crisp markings on either side. The gutta-percha grips remain fully intact with excellent detail, the left panel having a nice glossy patina and the right one, perhaps from UV exposure having a much duller appearance. The barrels lock crisply into place and the hammer functions properly and advances the firing pin on each successive cocking and fires with a crisp trigger pull. The numbered parts match. A fine example of this iconic four-shot pistol. Antique. SOLD |
