The Smith & Wesson Model 39 is a classic American semi-automatic pistol and was the first U.S.-designed double-action 9mm pistol to reach commercial production. It was introduced in 1955 and became the foundation for Smith & Wesson‚s later metal-frame semi-automatic pistol lines.
