This Smith & Wesson Model 1, 2nd Issue, Spur Trigger has a brass frame with silver plating. In .22 short caliber, this little gun has a 3 3/16" octagon barrel and a seven shot cylinder. The frame and cylinder are marked 997 while the inside of the Rosewood grips are marked 53794. Patent dates on the cylinder are clearly visible and the top of the barrel is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MAS".
CONDITION: The gun retains most of the original silver plated surfaces while the barrel and cylinder have virtually none of the original blue finish. The gun is free of major corrosion or pitting with only very light diacoloration to the barrel surfaces. The Rosewood grips are solid with only minor handling marks. The base of the butt is groved and the back strap bored and threaded for a sholder stock. The bore is lightly pitted with strong rifling.
This is an exceptional example of this early Smith & Wesson.
