Smith & Wesson Second Model 1891 Single-Shot 10-Inch Top-Break .22 Long Rifle
Description: According to Jinks, Supica and others, there were only 862 of these shipped by S&W – in various models – starting in 1893 – in .22 Long Rifle Caliber. Other authorities estimate that another 200-250 may exist, but not recorded by the factory. This Estate Listing is, in our estimation, a superb example of a 10-Inch Barrel; Model 1891; Second Model; Single-Shot; Top-Break in .22 Long Rifle with a very low three-digit serial number. The Receiver is Flat-Sided with no accommodations for a Cylinder. We have not found a picture or listing for a serial number this low. It is in Good Working Order with only a miniscule and barely perceptible wobble if one tries to wiggle the barrel on its hinge. SN “955” is in the Proper Frontstrap Location and Hidden on the Underside of the Top Latch. We do not see a number on the Barrel. That is of unknown significance as many of these originally were sold in multi-barrel sets that reportedly were not numbered. Correct Patent Dates and Address Line are on Top of the Barrel Rib. The Front sight is a Pinned, Narrow Blade with a Brass (gold colored) Bead; Rear Sight is a Small Notch ahead of the Top Latch. The Frame appears Original Finish to our eye. The barrel is brighter and may/maybe have been reblued. We cannot be 100% certain as we are not dealers or experts. Condition can best be judged by the photos. It has a trigger-shaped finger rest riveted to the underside of the trigger guard. The Original, Extended, Hard Rubber Grips have a short segment chipped-off their backstrap section a long time ago; the edges are rounded and smooth with age. Otherwise, this pistol is in fully serviceable, shooting condition. Please ask any questions or request additional information before purchase as this item will be troublesome and costly to return owing to CA re-registration and other regulations. Any refunds will be minus our actual shipping cost and FFL fees (greater than $150) after buyer pays return shipping. The listed price Includes Insured Air Shipping from a CA FFL Dealer to yours. Payment is by Money Order, Bank (Certified) Check or Personal Check (held 2-3 days). We are the Estate Executor and Trustee, not a dealer, and cannot handle credit card or electronic payments. This item is subject to prior sale. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson Model: 2nd Model 1891 Serial Number: 955 Barrel Length: 10 Inches |
