S&W 38 M&P model of 1904 4th change
4
Description:
S&W 38 M&P 1905 4th change (or the pre-war version of the pre-model 10). These 5-screw 38 special revolvers ceased production in 1942 and this one made, probably, 1n the 1930’s. Not a museum quality piece, but a nice original example of this model.
It is a “K” frame, 6-shot revolver with a 4” barrel and with the correct checkered, diamond wood grips. The letters “M.P.D.” are stamped on the back of the grip frame which I guess may stand for a Police Department. That assumption is based on the fact that the Model 10 and its earlier variants may be the most used Police duty weapon ever!
Condition is around 85% with fairly significant amount of muzzle wear on both sides of the barrel. The grips are intact and in pretty good shape except for the wear on the checkering on the right panel.
Regardless this is as I mentioned above a nice example of a pre-war M&P.
