The Smith & Wesson® Performance Center M&P®9L is an ultra-reliable semi-auto pistol that comes with enhanced features to make it an ultimate handgun for competition shooting, as well as self-defense. Competition Optics Ready (C.O.R.E.™) features a slide cutout. The L Series has a long slide and a 5" barrel which increase the pistol's sight radius. The stainless-steel slide and barrel are ported to reduce muzzle flip. The slide has a durable, black Armornite® finish; and rear scalloped serrations provide a secure grip when loading or clearing the action. The grip angle and a low slide profile on the M&P semi-automatic pistol make it a natural pointer, and quite controllable when firing rapid shots. The polymer frame utilizes a stainless-steel chassis that the slide rides on. The M&P 9L comes with an enhanced trigger, a Performance Center sear, and the trigger stop is adjustable. The M&P has a slide re-lease lever on both sides of the frame, and the magazine release is reversible. The Performance Center M&P 9L is a striker-fired semi-auto pistol. The trigger system prevents the firearm from discharging unless the trigger is fully depressed, even if the pistol is dropped. All M&P pistols disassemble easily without the need of tools. 9mm Parabellum
