Smith & Wesson No 3 American, 2nd model .44

Description:
Up for sale is a Smith & Wesson No 3 American, second model revolver with 8in barrel and chambered in .44 American (they weren't marked as to what caliber round it fired.) This is technically not an actual "Schofield" as that was the version Major Schofield directed to be modified with a different barrel latch system for the military, but it is a real original No3 American, second model. These were popular with cowboys. Maybe one carried it? All numbers matching with the serial number 15268 stamped on the butt and inside of the right grip. Assembly number 422 is stamped on the inside of the frame, rear of cylinder and under the barrel latch. Frosty bore, rifling is crisp.
