UNFIRED Museum Quality Smith & Wesson Model of 1891 Single & Double Action.22 pistol.
Offered her for sale is a SUPERB Unfired and UNUSUAL single shot pistol from Smith & Wesson. This specimen, serial  number 7615 with 10" bbl is a 3rd Model (“Perfected Model”) made by S&W from 1909–1923. This is one of the more esoteric and desirable target pistols that Smith & Wesson ever produced.
The “Model of 1891” wasn’t originally a standalone pistol—it began as a conversion system built by adapting a .38 single-action revolver frame with cylinder removed and replaced with a single-shot break-top barrel. Early versions came in .22, .32, and .38 calibers. By 1893, S&W began producing complete single-shot pistols, not just conversions. These early guns still looked like revolvers internally—many had leftover features.
The 3rd Model was built on the newer “Perfected” double-action frame .Serial range approx. 4,618 – 11,641. It had a mechanically improved lockwork (faster hammer fall, smoother action). Usually .22 LR only. Still a single-shot, BUT THIS IS DOUBLE ACTION AS WELL.
SN 7615 falls squarely within the 3rd Model range (≈4618–11641). This is exceptional condition for a 100+ year old target pistol. Mostly found in used and worn condition. Original matching serial nos. in two places-frame & latch. No number on barrel which is not unusual as the majority are found with no serial number. This is a  TRUE 100% original finish and in UNFIRED condition. Just a tiny bit of vertigris on grip screw which we have left as is.  Even the most avid and complete Smith & Wesson collector would be hard pressed to find a better example of this MUSEUM QUALITY specimen.
