Offered here for sale and just acquired is a very good and original Walther P38 9MM auto pistol.The Walther P38 is one of the most iconic military sidearms of the 20th century, and this early post-WWII example with serial number 168944 fits into a historically interesting period of production that bridges wartime manufacture and postwar German rearmament.
Serial number 168944 places this Walther P38 as a postwar (West German) commercial production model, most likely manufactured circa 1957–1958.It would have been produced by Walther in Ulm, West Germany, after Walther re-established operations post-WWII. Early postwar serials for commercial models started at 1 and went upward, separate from wartime numbering. This is well within the first 200,000 postwar commercial P38s.

It has the matte finish overall and is in very good used condition however it appears to have more storage marks than use wear. The grips are a bit soiled which we will clean before shipping. It has a clean bore. This pistol is a strong candidate for a shooter-grade collector or a reenactor looking for an authentic Cold War-era German sidearm. Includes also is a period police style holster.
