Pre-1940 Walther 1936 Olympia "Sport Modell" .22LR Pistol w/ Matching Magazine
** All-Original Gun **
Description: This is a very cool Walther 1936 Olympia "Sport Modell" Pistol with a 7.5" inch barrel in .22 Long Rifle complete with a weight set. This Walther was manufactured before 1940, as it is commercial proofed double "CROWN/N" on the right side of the barrel. The left side of the slide features the Walther banner, a two-line Zella Mehlis address and the model name "OLYMPIA-PISTOLE". All of the factory serial numbered parts are matching including the frame, slide, grips, barrel, and magazine. This pistol is 100% original and has not been altered or modified in any way. The original gloss blue factory finish is in very good condition overall, showing only some light finish wear and handling marks. The bore is bright with strong rifling, free from any pitting, erosion, or visible imperfections. The wooden grips are in very good condition with little to no wear and feature nice sharp checkering. All of the controls on this pistol are in perfect working order, and the action is slick and precise. We have no doubt that this Walther Olympia will still shoot just as accurately and reliably as it did when it left the factory more than 80 years ago. At the time of manufacture, this was the premier .22 caliber target pistol made in Germany. The German Olympic team used Walther Olympias to win five gold medals in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin and ended the winning streak of the American-made Colt Woodsman Target Model. Even today this Olympia should still out-shoot 98% of the .22 caliber pistols you may encounter at the range. If you have been looking for a high-end vintage .22 caliber target pistol for both a long-term investment and shooter, this Walther Olympia "Sport Modell" would be an excellent choice.
